Register reporter Jeff Collins tells us that three of the four major local Realtor groups are expecting some noteworthy slippage in membership in ‘08…We’ve been waiting – and wondering – when this downtrend would start.

I will believe it when I see it on the membership drop of 15%. We are making the on-going assumption that the majority of REALTORS are agents actively working with buyers/sellers of property.
Until the price of entry rises beyond its current levels, we will see membership levels stay in the same neighborhood. We might see more agents joining referral companies vs. active brokerages but the maintenance of licensing, etc. will stay relatively stable.
